You’ll need to host a video conference with your team members for this one. The rule of the game is that each remote employee should tell three truths and one lie about themselves. Ideally, the lie should be realistic and believable enough to keep the game interesting.

Having a remote team of workers comes with several advantages, including an increased level of productivity compared to a structured office environment. There's also far less money spent on office space and equipment. That said, managing a remote team also has its unique challenges. Team members that only work together virtually are more likely to feel lonely as they have little to no opportunity to interact with their co-workers.
This lack of personal relationships can have a negative effect on employee satisfaction and retention. Hence, as a manager, it is necessary to develop ways for your team members to get to know each other, to better form organic relationships. One of the most effective ways of achieving this is by using virtual team building games.

A bucket list is best known as a list of things a person wants to do or experience at least once in their life. So, what better way for your team members to get to know each other than through a bucket list challenge game? The game stipulates that each employee writes down three things on their bucket list and shares it with the rest of the group.
They also have to share the reason why these things are on their list. This provides an opportunity for co-workers to discuss the differences and similarities in their lists, and potentially form stronger connections with each other.

Description:
In this game, each team member shares a picture of significant time, person, or thing with the rest of the group. The image can relate to their pets, kids, favourite movie, favourite vacation spot, or pretty much anything that’s dear to them. Once they've shared the picture, they can share the story behind the image.
This team-building game helps remote co-workers know each other a little bit more. It also is a fun and lighthearted game that fosters an open and receptive atmosphere.

Description:
This isn't a spur of the moment game; your remote workers need to be informed ahead of time. It involves each employee picking their best picture, and then sharing it with the rest of the team at the end of the week. The image can be of anything, from nature to family, and even personal interests.
This game doesn't require any fancy photography or editing skills, it simply encourages workers to express themselves through images. Anyone with a smartphone can freely participate. At the end of it all, team members will vote for the winner of the competition. Altogether, the game gives coworkers a glimpse into each other's lives and interests.

The most common online word games out there are 'Word with Friends' and 'Scrabble.' For this, the members of your team will first have to download the app on their smart devices. Once that is done, you can pair them up to play against each other.
The objective of the game is to put letters together to create words, which generate points. In the end, the person with the most points is declared the winner. This fun and competitive game allows workers to cooperate and compete.

Description:
Much like the 'Picture of your life' game, this next one requires each team member to share a photograph with the rest of the group. The main difference here is that every team member is required to submit a picture of themselves as a baby anonymously. The goal of this is for the team to guess whose baby picture comes up during the game. This team-building exercise is engaging and an excellent way to get insight into a co-workers' childhood.

Description:
You’ll need to host a video conference with your team members for this one. The rule of the game is that each remote employee should tell three truths and one lie about themselves. Ideally, the lie should be realistic and believable enough to keep the game interesting.
The other team members will, in turn, guess which statement was a lie, and whoever guesses right is awarded a point. This game is an excellent way for co-workers to get to know each other better.

There are many virtual games that your team members can play together. Games such as: Charades, Pictionary, and Finish The Story. The last one starts with a simple made-up story.
Here, the first employee gets the story started then stops midway. Then, the next employee picks up from where the first employee started. This goes on until the entire team has contributed to the plot and a team member decides to conclude the story.

Each remote worker submits a recommendation for movie night and the entire team has to watch it. Each week, a submission is drawn at random, and that's the movie the team has to watch together. Movie sharing platforms like 'Netflix Party' allow for synchronized watching, which is quite useful for this team-building exercise. This game allows employees to share and enjoy each other's favourite movies, and this holds the potential of bringing them closer together as a team.

This next exercise allows team members to encourage and motivate each other. Here, each employee posts one of their personal development goals on the team's calendar. People love trivia and quizzes, so why not incorporate that into your team-building exercises? To play, separate remote employees into teams, with the manager as the host and moderator of the game. Each team is asked a trivia question for a point, with the opportunity for other teams to 'steal' if they get the answer wrong. The team with the highest number of points is declared the winner. This game is fun and provides a chance for co-workers to collaborate outside of work.
