React Native Developers

React Native engineers who ship to both stores from a single codebase and work through your British day. For most UK products that halves the ongoing maintenance and keeps iOS and Android at the same feature set.

  • One codebase covering iOS and Android together
  • Interfaces that feel native rather than ported
  • Working your hours and fully embedded

Our service

Mobile engineers embedded in your UK team

We match senior engineers who have taken apps through review and out to real users, which is where mobile projects usually stall rather than in the code. Because Cloud Employee is the employer of record, you get a full-time member of your team rather than a contractor.

  • Production mobile builds, shipped and maintained
  • Native modules where the shared layer runs out
  • Fully embedded in your team and your tools

Fully embedded in your team and your tools

Cross-platform specialists

  • Write once, ship to iOS and Android with performance and consistency.
  • Mobile UI ExpertiseEngineers who turn designs into polished, responsive, on-brand interfaces.
  • Engineer reviewing code on screen
  • Native Module IntegrationBridge into native Swift, Kotlin, or Java where React Native can’t go alone.
  • Development team collaborating in the office
  • App Store ReadinessCode that clears approval fast - ready to publish and scale.
  • Testing & MonitoringQA coverage, crash tracking, and real-time performance insights.

Vetting

You see two people - not 200 CVs.

Engineers vet engineers

A senior engineer runs a live technical conversation on the candidate's real stack, not a recruiter working from a keyword list.

Live coding, not take-homes

Real problems solved in front of an assessor, with anti-cheating checks. You see how they actually work, not what they submitted overnight.

A full profile, not a CV

Every candidate arrives with a CV, interview summary, coding-test breakdown and rate in pounds. You decide on evidence.

Every tab is a stage a candidate has to clear. Six of them, all run by our own internal engineers at Cloud Employee, before you see a name.

Scored by people. We use AI to cross-check our own consistency - never to decide who reaches your shortlist.

Why Cloud Employee

Mobile engineers who stay past the launch

An app is never finished at release, and a team that loses its mobile engineer six months in pays for that twice. 97% of our engineers stay beyond two years, backed by a 1,000 pound annual learning budget, at 50 to 75% less than hiring the same seniority in Britain.

Expect to pay 50 to 75% less than an equivalent British hire when salary, employer national insurance, pension, recruitment fees and overheads are added up. Hiring a UK-based React Native developer through us is perfectly possible. It is simply that the quality-to-cost ratio usually points to Eastern Europe, the Philippines or Latin America, with Eastern Europe suiting a British working day well. The aim is the strongest quality-to-cost ratio we can find, excellent mobile engineers at a price that keeps working. Senior React Native experience is scarce in Britain relative to demand.

React Native lets teams build iOS and Android apps from one JavaScript or TypeScript codebase, rendering real native interface components rather than a web view. Teams choose it when they already live in the React ecosystem, because web engineers become productive on mobile without learning two platform stacks, and code and tooling get shared with the web app. The new architecture has closed much of the old performance gap, and Expo has made the build machinery dramatically saner. Anything deeply platform-specific still ends in native code, and upgrades can be genuinely painful.

Profiling skill, native-layer courage and release-pipeline experience are what to look for, because writing React components is now the cheapest part of the job. AI assistants produce competent screens on demand, so the developer's value has consolidated around what they do when the app misbehaves, tracing a janky list back to its re-render cause, and being unafraid to write a native module when the ecosystem does not provide one. Release engineering is a real skill here, store review cycles, signing and crash monitoring included.

Ask for the story of a performance problem they personally hunted down, and judge the specificity, because real profiling work leaves detailed memories. Then go structural, when would they choose React Native over Flutter or fully native, and against it. What has lived in native modules in apps they shipped, and how do they handle an upgrade that breaks half the dependency tree. A pairing session on a small feature, their usual AI tools allowed, shows working style honestly, watch whether generated components get interrogated for re-render behaviour and list performance or pasted as-is.

Demand is solid and mainstream, since React Native remains one of the two default answers for shipping to both app stores from one team. Whether to build on it depends mostly on who you already are. If your organisation has React talent and a web product, the shared skills and code make it the path of least resistance. If you have no JavaScript heritage, Flutter deserves an equal look, and if your app's identity is deep platform integration, fully native remains the honest answer. The judgement calls remain stubbornly human.

They use them daily, and mobile is where we are strictest about verification, because generated code that looks right can still stutter on a real device. Our vetting assesses whether candidates use AI tooling well, and for React Native that means the habits after generation, checking list virtualisation and memory behaviour on hardware rather than trusting the simulator, and treating an assistant's native-module suggestions with particular care. Fundamentals are the floor, judgement the differentiator, and we test both in live pairing.

With a CTO-led process built around live pair programming, because mobile engineering quality is far easier to observe than to read off a CV. A senior engineer works with each candidate on realistic problems, alongside a technical assessment, a cultural fit screen and a psychometric assessment we built specifically for software engineers. For React Native we weight shipped store apps and comfort at the native boundary, and we directly test how candidates work with AI tools. Our screening and matching is AI-augmented, and 97% of engineers stay beyond two years.

You are typically interviewing matched candidates within 7 working days of a requirements call, and developers are often embedded and pushing code within about two weeks. From there it is a rolling monthly contract with 30 days' notice, one monthly fee, and no placement charges. You can scale up or down as the work changes, and you pay nothing to interview.

There is a two-week money-back guarantee, and if you want to continue we replace the developer free of charge. In practice this rarely comes up, because you interview a shortlist of two candidates who have already passed a CTO-led technical assessment and a live pair programming session, so the fit question is largely settled before anyone starts.
