Our story

We didn't set out to build a staffing company. We were just trying to hire devs for ourselves.

In 2011, Seb Hall couldn't hire developers for his e-commerce business - freelancers were unreliable and overseas agencies disappointed. So he flew to the Philippines and built his own team, in-house and properly employed. It worked, and contacts back home had the same problem, so in 2014 he and his brother Jake launched Cloud Employee. The innovation wasn't better recruitment. It was who does the interviewing. A recruiter matches a CV to a spec; only an engineer can tell you how an engineer actually works. So engineers hire engineers, and we invest in keeping them: training budgets, wellbeing coaches, community. It's why 97% are still there two years later.
